As Kingsway Cane are a family run business most Kingsway Cane designs are ‘evergreen’, this means that you can add to your furniture years after your original purchase. After taking your specific order they can usually guarantee an excellent 3 – 5 week maximum delivery time.
The rattan plant (cane) is a climbing plant that grows abundantly in South East Asia. There are many hundreds of different species, with around forty that are suitable for Kingsway Cane furniture production. Rattan palms can only grow in tropical rainforest and generally need the support of large forest trees to climb up and around, hence no rainforest no rattan. All rattans for Kingsway Cane are collected from the rainforest by cutting or pulling out of the trees. They are then cut into lengths of three to four meters and graded for quality. When rattan is cut above the base, it will just start to grow again, thus no replanting is required and the forest is left undisturbed as Kingsway Cane realises the importance of a healthy environment for future generations. All rattans are tolerant of heat and humidity and consequently will not dry out or split like wood.
