We don’t like to boast too much here at Shackletons Home & Garden, (well maybe just a little), but we do know a thing or two about outdoor garden furniture. That’s because, for 15 years, from our spacious store in Chatburn, near Clitheroe, we’ve specialised in selling high quality garden furniture and accessories from designer brands such as Barlow Tyrie, Gloster, Westminster, Bridgman, Neptune, Bellagio, Alexander Rose and 4 Seasons Outdoor.

(As a matter of interest, we expanded our offer to interior furniture some five years ago, as this was a natural extension for us; offering quality brands, innovative products, expert product knowledge and great customer service – thereby making us a complete ‘home and garden’ department store).

So it goes without saying that all of us here at Shackletons Home & Garden have avid product knowledge and offer genuine help and advice, whatever your budget.  From resin weave to wood or leather garden furniture - we give impartial product advice, to help you decide what’s best for your outdoor space (or indoor space for that matter).

And nowadays, with so much on offer it can be quite confusing making the right choice when buying garden furniture, for instance, knowing the difference between say resin and resin weave wicker is a start!

Here’s a very quick overview of the differing material characteristics you can expect to find, when looking for garden furniture:

Resin weave wicker rattan (also known as all-weather wicker) - Environmentally friendly – polyethylene synthetic wicker, durable, insensitive to temperature differences and free from cracking and corrosion. Manufactured by hand by weaving all-weather resin strands onto a welded aluminium frame.

Resin (also known as plastic) - Lightweight, weather-resistant and easy to maintain.

AluminiumLightweight material, extremely strong and powder coated to prevent oxidisation and ensures years of outside use.

PolyTeak - New material manufactured from high-density polyethylene (HDPE) and looks just like teak. Resists colour fade and splintering, minimal maintenance and recyclable.

PU Leather - Waterproof polyurethane coated, breathable and highly durable. UV resistant properties and rapid dry foam used for the fillings (allows for quick drainage if anything seeps through seams after prolonged downpours.

Wood (Teak or Mahogany) - Highly resistant to warping and rotting with minimal maintenance.

Wrought Iron - Extremely strong, durable and maintenance free.

Stainless SteelExtremly strong, durable and insensitive to corrosion.
