September’s been a great month with plenty of surprisingly warm and sunny days. October’s a beautiful time, although it’s guaranteed to bring cooler air and lots of falling leaves!

Things to keep you extra busy this October:

- Rake up fallen leaves (keep doing this regularly – don’t wait for leaves to pile up on the lawn)

- Keep harvesting the lovely fruit – apples, pears and nuts

- Cut back perennials

- Move tender plants to the green house

- Plant spring cabbages

- Prune climbing roses

- Think about seeds for next year (we’ve got a huge selection in-store at Shackletons Home & Garden)

And the really good news - October will really be the last time you’ll have to cut the lawn (until spring that is!)
