September’s the month that really marks the change from summer to winter, with noticeably shorter days and cooler temperatures. The upside though is harvesting all those lovely fruit trees and veg patches if you have them. And, now’s the perfect time to plant spring flowering bulbs in preparation for glorious garden colour come spring.

Things to keep you busy this September:

- Harvest fruit and veg

- Plant spring flowering bulbs

- Net ponds before leaves begin to fall

- Divide herbaceous perennials

- Cover leafy veg with bird-proof covering
